After a successful series on Student Engagement, and a summer certification program on Assessment, we are excited for Learn Forward to introduce its second series: Program Design. Launching next week, this series will feature 12 blog posts, 8 webinars, and 4 eBooks. As we all know campuses are filled with events put on by students, staff, faculty, and even community members. On any given day, the campus calendar showcases opportunities to attend conferences, speakers, cultural awareness events, campaigns, concerts, and expos without having to leave the campus boundaries, with these events drawing in audiences from around the community. But, event planning is not just a haphazard process. It takes intention, precision, and great follow-through to ensure that events are successful. Whether that is in the design, marketing, or execution, being able to effectively design and plan programs is a critical function of higher education.

Each webinar offered in the series will focus on a different topic area within the theme and feature guest presenters from various universities and colleges around the country. Each guest presenter brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from their career to the Learn Forward series. When crafting this series we asked ourselves a few specific questions:

  1. What goes into designing a successful program or event?
  2. What kind of planning process leads to intentional engagement?
  3. What does collaboration with other offices and external campus partners look like during this process?
  4. What roles do marketing and branding play when targeting your audience?
  5. Is it important for students to make mistakes?

Finally, the Program Design theme will culminate with a panel of experts. They will provide answers for some of the larger questions that we often ask ourselves about best practices for creating and executing intentional programs and events.

Ready to join us for what will prove to be a timely and relevant series as experts in the field share best practices for campus programming over the course of the semester? Sign-up here.
