The Learn Forward Team is excited to announce our Spring Series: Foundations of Retention. Over the last decade, retention has become the buzzword in higher education. With a heightened focus on linking institutional retention rates to federal funding and the accreditation process, it is no surprise that colleges are focusing on retention now more than ever. However, establishing and implementing a retention plan designed to promote student success and persistence is easier said than done. Retention can’t be just one person’s job or addressed with one campus initiative, it must be tackled through a campus-wide strategic, coordinated, and multifaceted effort. Led by a variety of experts in the field, this series will explore retention from all angles, offering tangible research-based strategies that can be implemented at institutions of all types and sizes.

Forward-Thinking Webinars. Each webinar offered in the series will focus on a different topic area within the theme and feature guest presenters from various universities and colleges around the country. We’ve tapped into some of the premier experts in the field to explore the following topics and their relationship to student retention:

  • Creating a Campus Culture of Retention
  • Student Success Coaching
  • Extended Orientation and First Year Experience Programs
  • Sophomore Year Success Programs
  • Harnessing Campus Retention Data
  • The Classroom Learning Experience
  • The Role of Career Development
  • ...and much more!

eBooks On-Demand. In addition to webinars, we will be publishing eBooks throughout the spring offering best practices for creating a strategic retention plan, facilitating a retention committee, harnessing your retention data, and lastly, offering some of the top ten strategies for promoting student retention.

Earn Your Badge. You will also have the opportunity to earn your Foundations of Retention badge through participation in the Learn Forward Retention Series. By watching a minimum of 8 webinars and reading a minimum of 2 eBooks, participants can fill out a reflection form to be awarded a badge which allows you to gain recognition for your professional development, and display them to potential employers, colleagues and your online community.

Ready to join us for what will prove to be a timely and thought-provoking series as experts in the field share best practices for campus retention over the course of the semester? Sign-up here.
